I am a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and I love kale and coke (or I feel like that’s the best way to sum up my nutrition philosophy), I love helping women find balance and joy in food and their health habits. I specialize in nutrition around pregnancy and postpartum. During my pregnancies ( I have two crazy boys) I was amazed at how much our bodies go through to create our babies and how hard it is sometimes to prioritize nutrition with some of the common side effects of pregnancy (nausea, heartburn, always feeling full…ect). I was also shocked at the messages that came postpartum of “bouncing back” and extreme diets designed to “get rid of the baby weight”. These messages can be so harmful to us as we navigate motherhood and our ever changing bodies, and fear and shame about our bodies is NOT what creates healthy habits.
During undergrad I discovered Intuitive Eating, and this philosophy was everything I never knew I needed. Our bodies know what we need and when we learn to listen to them we can support them in gentle and chill ways. The principles of intuitive eating speak so well to calling out harmful messaging that we (especially as women) get about our bodies and how to rebuild trust and respect with our bodies. And pregnancy is the perfect time to reconnect with yourself and create sustainable healthy habits that will not only benefit you but your whole family!
